Ross Gerhold is a cinematographer, photographer, and director based in Richmond, Virginia. Over the past decade, he has worked across commercial, documentary, editorial, fashion, and branded projects, collaborating with clients ranging from independent businesses to global brands.
His experience spans both production and creative direction, with work ranging from cinematography and photography on set to directing and developing visual concepts for brands. He has worked on productions for clients including Apple, DEWALT, Omni Hotels & Resorts, while photographing and directing projects for brands such as Capital One, Southern Living, Natty Light, and others.
Gerhold has also helped develop artistic and strategic digital identities for emerging brands and hospitality properties. As Creative Director for doah, he collaborates closely with the founder to shape the brand's visual language, voice, and online presence, while producing cinematic content across web, social, and internal brand materials.
Alongside commercial and advertising work, Gerhold maintains an ongoing practice in contemporary fine-art photography, exploring today’s societal decay in tandem with the terrestrial beauty of the American South, but truly wherever he catches glimpses of personal and emotionally nostalgic scenes in the everyday world.. His photographic work has been exhibited and featured in galleries, exhibitions, and domestic and international publications.
